This weekend is centered on great snacks, viewing parties and of course, the TV. Whether you love the commercials, the halftime show or are focused on the actual game, the TV is the center of all Big Game gatherings.

According to CTA research, 27 percent of U.S. adults say commercials are their favorite part of watching the big game, 11 percent indicate the halftime show is their favorite, while 53 percent say watching the football game is their favorite part of the Big Game festivities.

And preparation for the game doesn’t just include sending out invitations and making snacks – 12.4 million American households own a TV that was purchased specifically for watching the Big Game!

While TVs are still the preferred device for watching sports, CTA found 35 percent of millennials say that non-traditional content viewing devices such as smartphones, tablets and computers are the most important devices for their enjoyment of sports. That’s why the NFL’s latest news regarding streaming is so monumental.

In January the League announced that all postseason games would be streamed. And just this week, the NFL confirmed it’s now talking to digital companies about streaming rights for football games.
