The data collected for our
2014 Association Learning + Technology report indicates that not many membership organizations are yet offering flipped learning, microcredentials, or massive open online courses.
None of the three has above a 10-percent adoption rate, and more than a quarter of respondents indicated they weren?t sure if their organization offers these emerging types of learning, suggesting they aren?t even clear on what the terms mean.
Which gave us the idea to explore these “fringe” formats more fully. Fast forward a few months, and we’re now on the cusp of releasing a new white paper “Exploring the Fringe: Flipping, Microcredentials, and MOOCs,” and
registrants for next Thursday’s companion Webinar, also called Exploring the Fringe: Flipping, Microcredentials, and MOOCs,” will be the first to receive the white paper. We’re grateful to
Digital Ignite for sponsoring both the white paper and Webinar.
So, if you haven’t already, sign up for the Webinar at
https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/456445550. During the Webinar, we’ll cover what flipping, microcredentials, digital badges, and MOOCs are and explore when and how they might make sense for your organization?as well as when they might
not be a good fit.
Hope to see you online next Thursday.
Celisa
P.S. We’re still seeking input from associations on their use (or non-use) of social technologies for learning. If you work for a membership organization,
we really need your help to gather data via our online survey. The results of the survey will form the basis for our upcoming white paper on the use of social technologies for learning among associations, due out in June. The white paper will be made available for free.
