Musical Plates….Big Shakeout reaches 9.9 million in California-Join them on October 15th.

Reaching one million persons at LAUSD sites or 9.9 Californians….Earthquakes are relevant and have become a teachable moment episode in order to get ready for what is coming and know how to cope, and to take care of each other ...all kinds of agencies, businesses, and individuals are taking part.

There are many faults in California, not just the San Andreas fault.  October 15th is a yearly event created to let everyone know that this kind of fault (a geological one)  is no laughing matter and much planning and preparation is required.

In addition, The Big Shake Out.org is helping citizens to be prepared wordwide.

The Red Cross and others want you to understand and have your own personal earthquake readiness in place.  Disasters require attention, skills, and self-sufficiency... should a caregiver or a public servant, or volunteer be unable to reach you with food, medical care or services.  This is pre-disaster training that will let us as a city or state get a positive "group" on....get ready, set, for the next BIG ride.

You can find content about the techtonic plates, learn force vocabulary, or build a structure from spaghetti on the Internet or You Tube.

Obviously there are real dangers, not just virtual learning opportunities or disaster dramas.

You find out how to pack your high school student's back pack and load apps on their phone.  Or as a purchasing and prep event you can store food and water, blankets, and flashlights and batteries for after you duck and stay safe.

To handle the stress in youngsters, you can look for Almog & Wheeler's new book "When the Ground Shakes" by Children 911 Resources for 3-8 year olds to include your kids in Shakeout's business, family or neighborhood event or watch for Children 911 Resources.com's teacher training (coming soon).

In the meanwhile...here's lots of info to discover and prepare yourself, participate, or head to a Red Cross Training, or CERT training program.
