Teens envisioning a Healthy Future – from Sacramento to LA to Belgrade
This weekend students are collaborating on student videos on 7 voices tracks using skype and media to make 1 minute films at the International Youth Media Summit in Monarch Hall and on LAVC campus.
Head to head with peers, professionals, teachers, and young actors, they are making the most of a two day summit bound to change their personal and professional lives, students from as far away as Lancaster and close in as the next feeder high school near by are learning to tell stories that will carry their voices to their peers in the European Union.
The Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications Career Cluster includes:
Designing, producing, exhibiting, performing, writing, and publishing multimedia content including visual and performing arts and design, journalism, and entertainment services.
In the Comcast youtube video interview below Dr. B. Bronston…who is currently jurying for the 20th film festival expands why these media events are so important to California's Economy and its students.
Ben Franklin was a polyglot and was able to invent solutions for this country because of his multiple skills and interests. Students in this event will make friends, learn skills, learn about the Danube Region and more. Check it out and apply for next year.
It's exciting to be among so many producers, camera"men", operators. Watch for the films to be posted on the webstes after the Summits conclude.
The Mission: Teen International Media Exchange (TIME) has an explicit mission: to capitalize on the energy of teenagers and the dynamic power of the media to create a peaceful, cooperative world community. TIME founded the International Youth Media Summit (IYMS), a yearly event which brings together teen filmmakers and teen diplomats from around the world to explore ways to inspire and empower their generation to shape the future through media and action.
"The bridging of cultural differences will allow the world to develop into a place that is truly ruled by happiness and peace." (Erene Morcos, age 15. Project: Korea Exchange) Erene has since graduated from Yale University and is a curatorial assistant at the J. Paul Getty Museum. Watch the films and what might be happening next for all of LA with this bilateral filmmaking model. Go Cleveland Media Academy, this year's Summits and LA Valley College, sponsors for making this learning experience possible. Thanks to the mentors, team leaders, and production team.
