The McDonald's restaurant on Madison Ave. and 40th St. is now in its second day of a shutdown, a closure ordered by New York City?s Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene?s Division of Environmental Health.

Work crews this morning appear to be dismantling the stricken outlet, drawing the interest of many passers-by, who were snickering at the chain?s misfortune and taking photos.

This high-profile shutdown on a busy street in the media capital of the world is a huge PR blow to the fast-feeder, which has been trying to upgrade its image.

The affected McDonald?s is situated across from the world headquarters of the O?Dwyer Co.
