Community Friday: Motivating Children to Believe They Can

Being gifted with the children’s book, Beyond the Laces, I expected a “pleasant story”. Instead, I was surprised and deeply moved.   The underlying message to children with illness, disabilities or anything that may be stopping them in their tracks is, “never give up”.

Goals

Beyond the Laces is co-authored by Bob Salomon and Rick Young. With the support of professional athletes behind him, and company sponsorships, Salomon is able to provide needed education at schools, hospitals and at events, on the importance of students helping and supporting one another.

The authors have included the theme of football in this book, but the message applies to all sports. It also applies to all children and their parents who read the book, by encouraging the act of kindness and paying it forward. The intention is to help children in need and to keep moving forward.

Hurdles

Connecting the theme of “pushing forward” is a perfect tie-in with sports. Most striking is the fact that when others give up on your win, or wellbeing, in the last second of the sport or game of life, you may still cross the finish line as the winner.

Team Work

Professional athletes are rallying their support behind this effort. Everyone knows someone with a child in need of help. Salomon and the team’s goal is to get this book in as many hands as possible. With this inspirational message and the help of the their professional athlete network, they are reaching children and families by organizing events at hospitals, schools, non-profits and charities, youth sports groups, and anywhere there is a child or family in need.

Our Communities

Through these events, book sales, corporate sponsorships and private donations, we are reaching people who share the same vision. “Never Give Up” is the theme on which I instruct my clientele. And it was the idea of paying it forward with kindness to help children facing unique challenges that motivated me to share this blog today with you. My request is you do the same, and PLEASE share this with everyone you know. Let’s be of service as together we may make a big difference.

Salomon is seeking further sponsorships from individuals, athletic organizations as well as companies to support our youth. A portion of the proceeds will go to support The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (C.H.O.P).

Go to: www.BeyondTheLaces.com to purchase or donate a copy and to find out about future events.

When we each reach out to help at least one other, we may positively impact society.  Job seekers, you may consider the type of company that supports its communities. Entrepreneurs, consider your core talent and how it may apply to community service.  Following this model in business will lead you to the Smooth Sale!
