There are 26 new printable maps up at PrintableWorldMap.net for those interested in learning or teaching United States geography or major bodies of water around the world.
"History and geography are inevitably tied together," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "So many of these maps are also a peek into the U.S.'s conflicts or expansion."
The new United States maps are a blend of old and new information. There are templates that list the major cities and capitals, with fill-in-the-blank options for students. There are also maps listing each state's statehood date, a map showing the territories acquired in the 18th and 19th centuries, and a map of state affiliations during the Civil War.
A wide variety of body of water maps are available for oceans, seas, gulfs and lakes. The world maps feature the oceans in blue, with all surrounding countries colored pink. There are also maps of the Black Sea, the Great Lakes, Persian Gulf and more.
Also included in the new templates are solar system maps of the planets and world maps showing major volcanoes and the tectonic plates. These complement the constellation maps already at the site.
PrintableWorldMap.net has more than 250 printable maps of states, countries, topography, continents, and bodies of water. Templates can be found that are blank, fillable or labeled. Each one is free to print as a PDF, or the map collection can be purchased for only $9.
There are more than 90 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
