MONTCLAIR, NJ, Feb 27, - Allan Gorman, CEO of Montclair NJ-based Brandspa has been chosen as one of this year?s crop of inductees into the New Jersey Advertising Hall of Fame. A dinner will be held at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, NJ at 5:30 pm on March 13, 2007.
Initiated in 1981, the New Jersey Advertising Hall of Fame has to date inducted 46 men and women from the advertising community who have met the strict criteria outlined by the organizing committee, including: Leadership, Creativity, Integrity, Philanthropy, Economic Contributions, Achievements of National Significance and Personal Activities. Past HOF inductees have been luminaries from the media, ad agencies, market research firms, public relations, out-of-home, and corporate marketing departments, including legends such as: John B. Gambling, Leonard Dreyfuss, Emanuel London and George H. Gallup.
Gorman, a thirty year plus veteran of the advertising and graphic design business has established himself as a recognized thought leader and visionary, respected for his entrepreneurship, personal integrity, dedication to craft, humor and generosity.
Before starting his own creative services boutique in 1987, Allan Gorman served in senior creative and management capacities on Madison Avenue for a number of the world's largest advertising agencies working on some of the world's most successful brands. His creative talent has been cited and showcased in many business publications; and he has been the recipient of over four hundred industry accolades and awards, including a coveted Gold Lion from the Cannes Film Festival.
His present firm, Brandspa LLC is a brand marketing company that has transformed the traditional concept of an advertising agency. A former president of the Art Directors Club of NJ, some of Allan's contributions have included the creation of: The Student Design League (a way to spread the Art Director's Club experience to college campuses); The Committee for Causes (a way to bring the talents of the professional creative community to the public through pro-bono projects for worthy, non-partisan causes), and strict fiscal controls to ensure stability and future growth for the club.
Gorman has sat on several Boards of Directors, including; the New Jersey Advertising Club, the Montclair Chamber of Commerce, the Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey, Inc., and he is a member of the Advisory Council for the national Tourette Syndrome Association.
Pro-bono and volunteer projects have included: a national advertising campaign promoting Tourette Syndrome awareness; television advertising for the New York Urban League; capital fund-raising for Temple Ner Tamid; creation, coordination and placement of ?There?s More in Montclair?, a multi-media co-op branding campaign; annual participation in NJ Ad Club?s Career Day; frequent judgings at advertising award competitions and guest lectures at universities and trade groups. He also donates one Saturday a month to Toni?s Kitchen, a soup kitchen feeding the less fortunate.
Allan likes to drive around the countryside taking photographs. He paints in oils and is an active member of the Improvisational theater troupe, On the Spot.
Mr. Gorman attended, and then subsequently taught at The School of Visual Arts in New York City. He has lived in Montclair, NJ since 1984 with his wife Susan and son Sam.
