The most common way for one person to vouch for another is via a well-crafted character reference letter. Twenty-five new letter templates were just added to the site CharacterReferenceLetters.com.
"These letters are a great starting point for writing a character reference letter for professional, personal or legal purposes," explained Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "There are now 139 letter templates at the site, for all kinds of situations."
Character reference letters are similar to a letter of recommendation, but they go beyond the scope of sister site LettersOfRecommendation.net, which is mainly focused on job- and academic-related letters.
CharacterReferenceLetters.com has sample notes relating to personal character, intended for someone appearing in court, adopting a child, serving in a volunteer capacity, setting educational goals and more. There are now letters vouching for someone who wants to rent a house, someone seeking to have a court record expunged, someone needing a reduction in bail, and other matters.
There are also new letters in the Testimonials section of the site: client opinions that can be included in portfolios, on company websites, and elsewhere an opinion can serve businesses and customers. The selection includes testimonials for a dentist, a therapist, a travel agency, a nutritionist and others. There's even a sample reference (review or endorsement) for a book.
The CharacterReferenceLetters.com site also has several articles with helpful tips about how to ask for a letter of reference, how to write such a letter, and how to decline to write one if the person requested doesn't have the time or inclination.
The letters can be downloaded for free and edited in Microsoft Word or another DOC-compatible program. Or, the text can be cut and pasted directly from the site.
"I've made CharacterReferenceLetters.com the go-to site for anyone needing to solicit or write a letter of reference," Savetz said. "And I'll continue to add to the site as user suggestions come in."
There are nearly 100 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
