Crime victim advocate Polly Franks is calling on California Governor Jerry Brown to deny parole to Leslie van Houten, a former Manson Family member and a participant in the notorious Manson family murders of August 1969.  Convicted of the stabbing first degree murder of Rosemary LaBianca, van Houten has petitioned for parole 19 times.

A California review board recommended van Houten for parole in April.  Her fate now rests in the hands of Governor Jerry Brown., who has until mid-September to accept or deny the parole board's recommendation.  Crime victim advocate Polly Franks is urging Governor Brown to remember the horror, brutality and terror of van Houten's crimes.  "Forty-seven years later, families of the Manson murder victims still live with the loss and memories of their loved ones' final moments," says Franks, adding "van Houten committed the most brutal murder imaginable to an innocent woman and this should never be forgotten. There is no undoing this.  Apologies and good behavior aren't going to bring Rosemary LaBianca back.  In addition, do the voters and taxpayers of California really want a freed Manson family murderer as a neighbor?"
