I’m proud that every literary competition I’ve submitted my latest novel A THOUSAND FLYING THINGS to has given me recognition. The latest is Chanticleer, which shortlisted my novel for its 2023 Hemingway Book Awards. I’m on a list with some mighty fine writers and am now in the running for semi-finalist. Named for Hemingway, these awards go to the best in 20th-century wartime fiction. My novel takes place in 1991, in South Sudan, and focuses on the challenges a female humanitarian has trying to help others in a conflict zone. I draw from my experience with Red Cross & Red Crescent as well as other international nonprofits and NGOs.

I must also say I have high admiration for Ernest Hemingway as a writer, perhaps not as much for the man.
