People don’t seem to realize that it’s too late to take preventive action about climate degradation. We’re in contingent action now, whether we like it or not.
We need fire-resistant, flood-resistant, tornado-resistant homes. (We already have earthquake-resistant.) We need to prohibit building on coastlines and in forests, and stop insuring those who do so anyway.
Ironically, we try to “cure” cancer instead of preventing it, when we should be doing just the opposite. We seem to have cause and effect pretty screwed up.)
When a fire occurs, you don’t post more “no smoking” signs or separate combustible materials or check the wiring at that point. You call the fire department, expect the sprinklers to turn on, use the escape routes, and file an insurance claim.
As for changing to electric cars and prohibiting ICEs: When they invented the automobile in the late 19th Century, they didn’t then go around and shoot all the horses.
