Background Check Firm Credential Check Corporation speaks with Students at Davenport University

Troy, MI based firm speaks to students on how to complete applications and resumes to pass a background check
TROY, Mich. Oct. 29, 2009 – On October 14, 2009, Credential Check Corporation spoke with students in the graduate and undergraduate programs at Davenport University. The well attended event at the University's Warren location focused on assisting students in preparing for a pre-employment background check. Credential Check partnered with the Southfield, Michigan based law firm Maddin Hauser.
Timothy Whiting, Vice President with Credential Check Corporation, discussed the various background check and drug testing services utilized by corporations during the recruitment process. The open forum allowed students to ask questions that would benefit their career search by ensuring that they understand the background check requirements and process.
"It is positive to see the support from the local universities to provide valuable information to assist their students in obtaining careers. Many applicants reach the background check stage in the recruitment process and are not clear on how to complete the paperwork," said Michael Pachuta, President of Credential Check Corporation.
Courtney Roschek, Attorney with Maddin Hauser, presented on the risks of posting information on various online sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Many employers visit social media sites to conduct an initial background check on their applicants. Employers utilize this information to get a better understanding of an applicant's personality. Ms. Roschek presented various ways that people can remove information online or, at a minimum, reduce the opportunity for an employer to view this information.
The event was sponsored by the University's Career Placement Department. The presentation from Credential Check was the first in a semester long program focused on assisting students with their career search. Additional seminars will be posted through the University.
