Evaluating and Selecting a Learning Management System, a report based on a survey of over 700 members of the eLearning Guild and released in June, finds a strong correlation between satisfaction with a learning management system (LMS) and the perceived effectiveness of the LMS selection process.
Not surprisingly, many who are dissatisfied [with their LMS] did not perform adequate due diligence in evaluating and selecting their LMS. Of the organizations that are dissatisfied with their current LMS, the majority stated that their LMS evaluation and selection process was not optimally effective. As the effectiveness of the evaluation and selection process increased, so did satisfaction with the LMS product.
As the chart below (from the eLearning Guild report) shows, 76.6 percent of respondents who were dissatisfied with their LMS deemed their pre-purchase evaluation and selection process ineffective.

LMS satisfaction correlates-with an effective LMS selection process.
The importance of a good, effective selection process may seem self-evident?but sometimes it’s nice to have the data to make a point.
