Classic Magic Tricks

You don't need fancy smoke machines and high-tech holograms to wow friends this Halloween. This year, try your hand (or, perhaps, slight of hand) at a few classic magic tricks.

The popular Web site ClassicMagic.net has been online since 2005 and features hundreds of magic tricks, from the easy-to-master to the techniques of the masters. Closely guarded secrets are revealed, such as how to palm coins, manipulate playing cards and even swallow a knife.

"I wouldn't recommend that the novice go out and try to swallow a knife this Halloween unless they want to spend Oct. 31 in the emergency room," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "But there are plenty of safe, fun magic tricks that will provide thrills and chills for your guests this Halloween."

"Whether you're putting on a formal performance or just need a couple of party gags, we have what you need at ClassicMagic.net," Savetz said. "If you've been putting off learning to levitate or practice ventriloquism, wait no more."

The tricks are explained in great detail, and many are fully illustrated. All of the tricks can be viewed and printed for free.

Some of the classic tricks include techniques such as the illusion of disappearing into a mirror, and the old favorite, sawing someone in half. A few of the tricks employ more modern techniques, such as some that make use of a cell phone or computer. If you're looking for stage illusions, mentalism or close-up magic, it's all on ClassicMagic.net.

ClassicMagic.net was founded by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company that creates high-quality, content-driven web sites. The company's other sites include FreePrintable.net, which offers free printable business cards, stationery, award certificates, recipe cards, paper and other useful printable items.
