FreePrintableBusinessCards.net, which has been offering printable business cards online since 2005, has added the ability to instantly create QR code business cards. The cards are free, and users can fit up to 350 characters' worth of information about their company, product or service in one little square.

"QR codes are everywhere – from product packaging to magazine ads to bus stops. By combining these black-and-white squares with smartphone scanning technology, businesses and other entities can share a lot of information in a small space," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator.

With 1,081 traditional business cards already available at FreePrintableBusinessCards.net, Savetz recently decided to add the ability to generate cards with QR codes. "Using the simple interface on the website, simply type in the information you want embedded in the QR code, click a button, download your card, and print," Savetz said. "It's incredibly convenient, and free."

The QR code cards download as PDFs and, again, they are free of charge. For the rest of its more than 1,000 designs, FreePrintableBusinessCards.net has free versions of every business card offered on the site. These cards are in DOC format and can be opened and edited in Microsoft Word, typing in a name, contact information and so on. The free version has the site URL embedded in the background of the card. For $1.99, users can get a premium version that allows them to delete the URL.

"I'm excited to be able to offer a technology that wasn't even widely available when I launched FreePrintableBusinessCards.net nearly seven years ago," Savetz said. "QR codes will only continue to grow in popularity, and businesses that have this scannable feature on their business cards will be ahead of the game."
