 Winning Karate Competition AND

Correctly Handling of the Okinawan Bo-Staff

Saturday, November 2, 2013, Knoxville, TN

Grandmaster Keith D. Yates, one of the pioneers of Karate in America, will travel from Texas to Tennessee to teach seminars on competition-style sparring in a special clinic on November 2 in Knoxville.

Not only is Mr. Yates a former champion, but he has promoted many tournaments as well as coached other successful champions. In this sample video excerpt you can see Mr. Yates explaining the scoring system for American open-style tournaments.

This is just one of the seminars that Grandmaster Yates, one of America?s most prolific authors and teachers on the martial arts, will present at this all-day clinic. He will also be instructing participants in Okinawan bo-staff techniques. You?ll learn a bo kata which will familiarize you with the seven basic directional strikes and then you?ll apply some of those strikes and blocks into several kihon-kumite (basic striking drills) with the six-foot wooden staff (you can purchase yours for $25 if you don?t already have one).

The day will ALSO feature our ?Friendship Games? where you?ll be able to put some of your skills to the test in both free-sparring and in special, padded sword matches.

Cost for all of these events is only $18 (pre-registered) or just $25 at the door. GM Yates will also be autographing a few copies of his books and videos, so you won?t want to miss this opportunity. Here?s another video excerpt from one of his instructional DVDs.

This exciting day of activities will be held at the First Lutheran School Gymnasium at 1207 North Broadway in Knoxville, TN 37917. The sponsor is Broadway Family Karate, 2902-J Tazwell Pike, Knoxville, a member school of the American Karate and Tae Kwon Do Organization (AKATO).
