Philly 76ers, Pin-Up Girls, and Master Sergeant Boost Morale For Hospitalized Veterans The hospitalized Veterans at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center had reason to smile recently when they were visited by Army Master Sergeant Steve Kreider and Pin-Ups For Vets Founder, Miss Gina Elise, along with volunteer pin-up girl, Miss Jennahway Heurta, all bearing gifts from the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team.
Elise, who is currently on a 50-state tour of Veterans Hospitals to boost morale and show appreciation to America's Veterans, organized the visit to the Philadelphia VA Medical Center in April. She contacted the Philadelphia 76ers to encourage them to donate gifts for the hospitalized Veterans, and the team came thru with flying colors by donating a large box of their red, white, and blue rally towels for all the ill and injured Vets.
For this visit to the 35th hospital on Elise's VA Hospital Tour, she also invited Master Sergeant Steve Kreider, from Connecticut, who organizes many community events and who arrived to visit the Vets that day in full dress uniform. Miss Jennahway Heurta from California also accompanied Elise, as they made their rounds of the hospital wards presenting the Veterans with the Pin-Ups For Vets calendars and "Kiss A Vet" T-shirts donated by the nonprofit organization's supporters.
The Pin-Ups For Vets Founder and volunteers began visiting and delivering gifts into the Veterans Hospitals in 2006 and have visited thousands of ill and injured Veterans over the past six years. Letters from VA hospitals, across the U.S,. have been posted on the Pin-Ups For Vets website (www.PinUpsForVets.com) on the "Appreciation" page, so that supporters can see how their donated gifts have boosted morale for the Veterans who are often dealing with long, lonely, and painful hospital stays. The visits to the Veterans have had a very positive effect on the Veteran patients.
