Episode 955 – Channel Descriptions
[00:00:09] Welcome to Screw the Commute, the entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multi-millionaire Tom Antion.
[00:00:24] Hey everybody! It's Tom here with episode 955 of Screw the Commute podcast. Today, we're going to talk about YouTube channel descriptions. Now, these didn't really do much in the past, but now there's a big change that you need to know about. This is all part of my YouTube tips series, very short tips that you can implement immediately to improve your channel. And remember, any one person that sees your stuff can spend money with you and multiply that by 100, 150, 200, 1000 people a week. And you're going to change the nature of your business. All right. I hope you didn't miss episode. 954 that was channel keywords. This is channel description. That was channel keywords. And anytime you want to get to get to a back episode, you go to screwthecommute.com, slash, then the episode number. That was 954, but the whole series starts at episode 944. Now pick up a copy of our automation book at screwthecommute.com/automatefree and check out my school and my mentor program there. The longest running, especially the mentor program ever in the field of internet and digital marketing. Most successful, most unique. When you hear about it, you'll say, oh man, you can't get that stuff anywhere else. And that's greatinternetmarketingtraining.com and my school would be one of the best legacy gifts you can ever give to a young person in your life, or use it yourself at IMTCVA.org, where they will learn and get a usable, highly in demand career and as little as six months.
[00:01:57] And we've had students making thousands of dollars, many thousands of dollars a month before they even graduate. All right, let's get into channel description. First of all, you go to your YouTube studio, you go to settings, you go to channel, you go to basic. And then there's a description box there. Now again, we never used to bother even bother with this a lot of times in the past and all the different channels we've had, because it didn't do much. But there's a change in YouTube. I don't remember exactly when it started. It was it wasn't like yesterday, but it's been there for a while where the first line, I think sometimes two lines might show up, but for sure the first line shows up on the homepage of your channel. So this is extremely important, valuable text. I think you can get 95 characters before they have to click a more button that nobody clicks. All right. So so there's two major things you can do with this area. One is you can put the subscribe link that I outlined in episode 950. Screwthecommute.com/950 to make it, you know, just easier and easier for people to subscribe or and this is something I've been teaching on web pages for 3000 years is make sure when people hit your web page, they know that they're in the right place. And you do that with taglines and your opening graphics. And of course, your graphics for your channel should tell them that. But this text, which I think, like I said, I think you get 95 characters or roughly before they have to hit more is very important.
[00:03:41] It's like the subject line in an email that if they don't, if it doesn't grab them, nothing matters after that. Okay, so use those words. Keep the most important stuff to the left in case it does get truncated. And then you can go on and on and on about your channel all you want. That's fine with me, but those first line is the critical one, because it now shows up as soon as somebody at your channel. So that's called the channel description. Go to Settings Channel Basic and fill in the description box and make sure you think about it. And if you want to have a link there, use the subscribe link from episode 950. Screwthecommute.com/950. And then next episode is going to be blocked. Words. This is an important thing that you can do. That's episode 956, coming out in a couple of days where you put words in that even if they show up in the comments, they can start hurting your channel. I mean, yeah, we could have negative comments, but we don't want the algorithm of YouTube to be thinking, oh, people aren't having a good time at this video. See? So blocked words. We'll cover that in episode 956 in a couple of days. Check out my mentor program. Greatinternetmarketingtraining.com. And you know what? If you're in the mentor program, you get a scholarship to the school that you can gift to somebody.
[00:05:07] Oh my goodness. This one guy joined a mentor program. He really didn't, to be honest with you didn't do much. But he gifted the scholarship to his daughter, who ended up making $6,000 a month in about four months and started her own big agency. And that's what she's doing full time now, right? So. So, yeah, this is powerful stuff, folks. And and she's not saddled with, uh. Well. Oh, I forgot that one. The girl. I'm talking about. Her dad had spent 80,000 bucks. $80,000? That's just tuition. That's not all the living costs and all the things that go along with being out of the workforce and losing 40 or $50,000. If you just get a basic job when you when you graduate. So it was, you know, hundreds of thousands of dollars it cost to send her to a school. And then she was working some crap job that had nothing to do with the school. Well, I don't allow that to happen to my students because this is in high demand. Every every business on earth needs this kind of stuff, this marketing, internet and digital stuff. And in addition to that, you can start your own business or work for somebody else or both. All right. So check it out at org. But again you get a free scholarship to gift to somebody if you're in my mentor program. All right. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'll catch you on episode 956. About YouTube blocked words.
