I can now create charts and diagrams and drawings using AI, as can you. That will jeopardize some artists and software companies. CPAs and tax work seem very susceptible to me, as do air traffic controllers and actuaries.
No one, no university, no professional license, promised you a safe, lifetime job. Without delving into the politics of it, the current government reductions are creating the same issues.
If you’re not working for yourself, you don’t have a sinecure. Technology, competition, social mores (DEI turmoil), government regulations can all undermine you or even put you out on the street.
Take control of your life. Have a Plan B and a Plan C. Never rely on someone else to take care of you, rely on yourself. Take a look around your workplace. What happens if it disappears? You may not think that’s likely, but it’s probably more likely than it has been since the “digital revolution” and before that the “industrial revolution.”
At least consider what your options are, and what additional resources you need in terms of education, skills, contacts, experiences. No one’s going to do this for you. Your parents’ (or children’s) couch is not an option.
