Asa (pronounced 'aasha'), the official tiger ambassador for the Conservation Alliance for Tigers (CATs) Year of the Tiger campaign, appeared on Fox & Friends on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 to kick off the Year of the Tiger. Her appearance was to kick off the online petition drive to help save the wild tiger from extinction. The petition is located at www.Tiger911.org
Asa appeared with conservationist, Dan Stockdale as he described the plight of the wild tiger. "Poaching is the greatest threat to wild tigers. Unfortunately there is a black market that consumes ever part of a tiger at an outrageous price," said Stockdale. "This could be the last Year of the Tiger where tigers actually exist in the wild."
Stockdale encouraged all viewers to sign the online petition to show their support for saving the endangered cats who are teetering on the brink of extinction. He will be presenting the signatures to officials to show our support for their existing conservation efforts as well as to offer logistics, equipment, and training to better track tigers in the wild.
The non-profit Conservation Alliance for Tigers (www.Tiger911.org) serves as the 'voice of the tiger' and all endangered species. CATs provides support to conservation organizations worldwide who care for tigers both in the wild and in captivity.
Dan Stockdale is the Founder of the non-profit Conservation Alliance for Tigers (CATs) and is a news contributor for Fox News, New York Times, CNN, National Geographic and many more.
