On September 23rd from 6:30 to 8:30pm, & Saturday September 24th from 1:30 to 4:30pm world renowned, four-time Grammy nominated Latin percussionist Bobby Sanabria will lead two free workshop/performance events featuring The Bobby Sanabria Ensemble at Mind- Builders Creative Arts Center - 206 East 207th Street, near St. Brendan School in the Bronx. Those interested in participating in the mini-workshops or closing jam sessions are encouraged to bring their instruments. This free community event is made possible with support from the Meet The Composer/MetLife Program, Sabian, Vic Firth, and Latin Percussion Incorporated. Sanabria's lecture/demonstration, performances and workshops will highlight the classic five- beat clave rhythm shown as the "key" to unlock the roots of Afro-Cuban Music. Playing a variety of percussion instruments and the drum set, Sanabria and members of his ensemble will take audiences on a polyrhythmic journey tracing the evolution of Afro-Cuban music and culture. This entertaining educational program kicks-off Mind-Builders' Fall registration for beginner through advanced-level classes in saxophone, flute, clarinet, violin, voice, piano/keyboard, guitar, drum, martial arts, salsa, tap, modern/jazz, ballet, hip-hop, African, and Praise Dance forms. Registration is going on now - Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 – 6:30, and Saturdays 10:30 – 4:00PM.
