The Congress of Racial Equality regrets to announce the passing of Ralph Conner, who served as the head of CORE's Chicago Chapter.

Ralph was a distinguished public servant in the Chicago area before he took on the task of revitalizing CORE's Chicago chapter. "Picking up CORE's flag in Chicago was like second nature to him because he was a warrior all of his life. As the head of our Chicago chapter, he contributed to a lot of great things that have happened here at CORE," said CORE Board Member, Clarence Jackson.

"Ralph was a committed soldier in the war to protect the 2nd Amendment. His work on documentaries, editorials and speaking engagements helped people see the importance of protecting one of our most precious rights," said Roy Innis, CORE National Chairman.

"Anytime I needed help with an issue, Ralph would answer my call with patience and insight," said Brian McLaughlin of CORE's New York chapter. "It was always a pleasure to speak with Ralph. He was an intelligent and delightful man."

Many philosophers say that in the afterlife we each reap what we've sown in life. In the case of Ralph Conner, he has bounty in store for him. He will be sorely missed.

Funeral services for Ralph Conner will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Corbin Colonial Funeral Chapel at 1001 Madison Street in Maywood, Illinois. The Wake begins at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m.
