Citing a 2003 court ruling that was hidden from Goodwin by attorneys and only came to light recently, Michael Goodwin, creator of the sport of Supercross, said, "The Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group bankruptcy in 1995 was illegal since it did not list the real assets of the company, those having to do with Supercross. MTEG listed only the assets of MTEG's defunct stadium off-road racing business." Goodwin made the statement from the R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility where he's serving two life terms without parole.

Goodwin was convicted in 2007 of the 1988 murders of racing legend, Mickey Thompson and his wife. Goodwin has always professed his innocence. After more than six years of wrangling with the Los Angeles District Attorney to get critical court records, discovery and evidence necessary to file his appeal, Goodwin's appeal was filed in late 2012.  

"It's clear that the spurious murder charges filed against me in 2001 were orchestrated to protect those involved in that 1995 fraudulent bankruptcy filing," Goodwin said. "Obviously, this affects subsequent owners of Supercross," he added. The 9th Circuit Appellate Court valued Supercross at $10 million in that 2003 ruling and stated in a lengthy opinion that Goodwin's attempt to re-open the bankruptcy in order to properly adjudicate it was valid and should have gone forward over the objections of the trustee
