Connecting Family and Friends When Health Matters Most
CureSearch for Children's Cancer today announced a partnership with CaringBridge, which provides free websites that connect people experiencing significant health challenges to family and friends, making each health journey easier.
"Caring Bridge centralizes communications and connects a patient's entire support community," said Sona Mehring, founder and executive director, Caring Bridge. "This creates a network of support for everyone involved, allowing the patient, caregivers, family and friends to receive strength and support through the experience."
Founded in 1997, more than 227,000 Caring Bridge Websites have been created and all told, they generate more than half-a-million daily visits. The CaringBridge community includes authors, visitors and donors in all 50 states and more than 225 countries and territories.
"When parents hear the words "your child has cancer," their world is turned upside down.
CureSearch for Children's Cancer strives to provide the best resources and information for children and families impacted by childhood cancer" said John L. Lehr, President and CEO of CureSearch for Children's Cancer. "Our partnership with CaringBridge adds a valuable benefit to the childhood cancer community as their website offers a place for families and friends to connect."
Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children, claiming the lives of more children than all other childhood diseases combines. Nearly 13,500 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer each year. Children's cancer does not discriminate – it affects all ethnic, gender and socio-economic groups.
CureSearch for Children's Cancer funds the lifesaving, collaborative research of the Children's Oncology Group, the largest, pediatric cancer research organization in the world. There are more than 5,000 physicians, nurses and researchers at 210 hospitals worldwide.
