For Immediate Release
Dr. Kathy Gruver present to standing room only crowd for recent stress reduction and wellness lecture.
It was standing room only with several people turned away due to lack of space at the 80th annual APCO Conference in New Orleans (Association of Public Communications Officials). Attendees were mostly 911 dispatchers and first responders. Dr. Gruver spoke on stress; its warning signs, symptoms and solutions.
"It was so great to look out and see a packed house. Clearly the operators and dispatch staff want this info and see the value in personal stress reduction. Sharing with them simple techniques such as mini meditations, visualizations, affirmations, mindfulness and simply looking at something pretty is going to help propel them to better health and a longer career. I really feel like they walked away with something valuable and life changing. Not to mention a few laughs. If I can help them continue to help the public then I did my job!" Remarks Gruver.
The crowd clearly enjoyed themselves, laughing at Gruver's saga of getting stranded in the country side of England "looking at something pretty" but got the weight of what stress can do to your health as they looked at the list of 50 warning signs of stress and all the diseases it contributes to.
Tim, from the Kansas Police Department had this to say, "I completely enjoyed the "Conquering Your Stress" talk given in New Orleans. The warning signs, nutrition hints, and affirmations were all very helpful. The mini-meditation idea is something I've already incorporated into daily life."
