Dr. Liz Bywater will be a featured panelist at the May 6th "Where are the Women Entrepreneurs?" conference, held at Temple University's Fox School of Business in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Bywater will discuss the sociocultural and psychosocial challenges faced by women in business.
"Women in business face a number of challenges and obstacles, some of which are external and some of which come from within," states Dr. Bywater. "For many women, the demands of playing multiple roles (e.g., corporate executive/wife/mother/caregiver to aging parents) makes it difficult to reach the same level of success as their male counterparts."
"In addition, women face society's ongoing perception of them as less assertive, and assumedly less effective, leaders than men. This is a double whammy for women trying to rise to senior positions. Those women who do take an assertive approach to leadership are considered aggressive, at best. And those who take a more diplomatic, consensus-driven stance do not receive full recognition for their contributions."
The May 6th conference is sponsored by Temple's Fox School of Business, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute at Temple, and the Science Center.
