In New York City from February 2nd until February 5th, Adovocates for World Health to appear on the floor of the NYSE, the Forbes and Rockefeller Estates to accept their nomination for a Kairo 50 Award (for one of the nation's top 50 most innovative student-run businesses.)Advocates for World Heath is making emergency medical supplies available, for free, to in-need local healthcare providers internationally.
The AWH goal is for no more wasted resources in America, while humans suffer in third world countries due to lack of medical resources.
"I watched a man die painfully in the street because the local doctors in Guatamala had not even the basic medical supplies available. This powerful event changed me for life." –Ryan Kania, CEO
FACT: Over 8 million pounds of sterile and usable medical supplies are incinerated or dumped in land fills every year simply because a product label or logo changed, their technology is not cutting edge in America, or a U.S. hospital did not know where to turn quickly with excess medical supplies.
Our mission at AWH: We contact hospitals, pick up the supplies and donations, deliver them to international healthcare relief agencies, and these agencies ship them to the end user, usually a needy hospital in a destitute foreign city.
We are one of nine MSRO's (Medical Supply Recovery Organization) in the US and act as a guide for the other 8 regions providing our best practices and operational experiences.
