FDA Bans Imports from Japan Due To Radiation Fears
Saint Petersburg, FL - March, 30, 2011)
The FDA just announced a temporary ban on shipments of vegetables, fruits and milk products originating from areas in Japan that were effected by radiation. This ban is a direct result of the public's growing concern about Japan's Nuclear Crisis and possible radiation contamination of the surrounding areas.
According to Advanced Biomedical Consulting (ABC), the FDA's mission is to enforce the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act and other laws that are designed to protect consumers' health and safety. The majority of laws and regulations apply both to domestic and imported products; however, the FDA has put additional focus on imported products to ensure they meet the same standards as domestic goods.
Jonathan Lewis, a principal at ABC, states that that, "other foreign manufacturers that have not been affected by Japan's nuclear crisis will be faced with increased importation scrutiny by the FDA and need to prepare now for this additional agency enforcement."
Advanced Biomedical Consulting continues to be a reliable and cost-effective resource for helping firms deal with FDA scrutiny, including but not limited to, registration for foreign companies trying to export to the US as well as helping blocked commodities get through to the US market.
ABC is also recognized in the industry for helping foreign firms comply with other current compliance concerns associated with FDA regulated products.
