"Big Sky Country" A Musical Hit in
LIU Post 2012 China Tour
Fidelifacts/Metropolitan NY employee Michael T. DeFilippis, a Music Major and trumpet player at LIU Post, was asked to compose a musical piece symbolizing America for the LIU Post Wind Symphony, which would be featured on the band's tour to China during the summer of 2012. Mr. DeFilippis chose to concentrate on the beauty, history and terrain of Montana as the inspiration for his composition.
The highly successful China tour began on June 27, 2012 where "Big Sky Country" was premiered by the LIU Post Wind Symphony at the People's Liberation Army Band Concert Hall, in Beijing, China. The Tour also included scheduled performances at the Capital Normal University-Conservatory of Music in Beijing and the Xi'an Conservatory of Music.
Michael graduated from West Hempstead High School and chose to attend LIU Post to pursue a career in Music Education. Last year he was asked to write a piece for Brass Ensemble by one of his instructors at LIU Post. In January 2012, his composition "Inner City Sounds" was introduced and performed by the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Brass Ensemble at the Manhattan School of Music. It became clear to his instructors that Michael has a talent for composing. To listen to "Big Sky County" and other music composed by Michael, visit his website at:
