Writing Prompts

FreeWritingPrompts.net has added 25 new writing prompts that cover creative, holiday and essay topics to its collection.

"I think these will come in handy for teachers getting ready for the school year," said Kevin Savetz, the site's creator. "They produce some really creative papers and they're great as in-class or homework assignments."

The new creative writing prompts fall into three categories: memoir, theater and conditional. The conditional writing prompts all begin with "If I were" or a variation thereof and help young students imagine themselves as animals, inanimate objects or different kinds of people. The theater prompts are designed to assist playwrights with blocking, character and dialogue. The memoir questions focus on the subject's past, present and future.

Great expository writing pieces can be generated by the new essay prompts. These include questions about traveling and vacations as well as prompts for holidays such as April Fools, Birthdays and Labor Day. There are also prompts designed to help students keep up with current events found online or in newspapers.

All 89 writing prompt sets at FreeWritingPrompts.net are free to print and use as a customizable DOC file. Categories include narrative, persuasive, comparative and creative prompts. There are also special prompts for holidays and creative writing. All prompts are arranged by grade level and categorized as Elementary, Middle, High School and College.

There are more than 80 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative web sites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
