(SAN DIEGO, CA ---) Effective February 6, 2017, the National Consortium for Credentialing Health and Wellness Coaches (NCCHWC) will operate under a new name, the International Consortium for Health & Wellness Coaching (ICHWC). Health and wellness coaching is rapidly becoming a global profession, and while the current focus is on developing national standards and a certification examination in collaboration with the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), the ICHWC in partnership with NBME will eventually expand to collaborate with coaches and partners around the world.
National Certification Timeline
The new international name launches just in time for the application phase of the first national certification examination cycle. The application phase for the HWC Certifying Examination opens February 6, 2017 and closes April 15, 2017. A link to apply to sit for the exam will be available at www.ichwc.org on February 6th. (Note: the NCCHWC site will redirect to www.ichwc.org so applicants can access the application information from either URL.)
All documents required to sit for the national certification examination are currently available at www.ichwc.org. All eligibility documents can be sent beginning February 6 to eligibility@ichwc.org. Individuals who successfully pass the HWC Certification Examination will hold the designation National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching will oversee this process. The National Board is comprised of three individuals from ICHWC and three from the NBME.
The examination is scheduled for September 2 – 16, 2017, and will be administered at over 340 Prometric sites throughout the U.S.
