Gold Star Mortgage Finance Group for the fourth time has been named a Top Workplace in Michigan for 2012.
The Detroit Free Press selected this year's Top Workplaces in Michigan after conducting a survey of 237 Michigan companies and organizations employing 159,134 people. In selecting its Top 100 Workplaces the Free Press examines a variety of workplace factors, such as a company's direction, career opportunities and managers. The rankings are based solely on employees' feedback.
"I am proud of the confidence our employees demonstrate in Gold Star Mortgage by playing a role in our selection for the fourth time as a Top Workplace in Michigan," said Dan Milstein, Chairman of the Board of the Ann Arbor-based mortgage financial services company. "My employees, whom I regard like family members, share a role in the huge successes our company has achieved in a relatively short time. The honor from the Free Press reflects this shared success."
As founder of Gold Star Mortgage, Milstein is driven to continue pursuing business success out of a sense of loyalty to his more than 500 employees and 2,000 family members who depend on Gold Star's stability. Milstein has always expressed a deep desire to stay true to his staff and their families, business partners, and colleagues.
What's makes Gold Star a top workplace? Milstein says Gold Star has a high-energy, fun and productive collegiate atmosphere. "We strive to stay away from the stereotypical corporate American work environment by allowing staff to bring their pets to the office, we have a gym in the new building and while we work hard, we play too. Not only do we have CNBC on our big flat screen TV's, we have ESPN on the flat screen next to it. We believe in a strong family life and want everyone to balance work, family and home life. We're a top workplace for a reason," says Milstein.
"One of the big attractions for new grads is our management development program for people with no mortgage experience, but who are self motivated," says Rick Richter, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Gold Star. Some of our new additions are on track to make well into six figures in 2012. Not bad for a new graduate," adds Richter. "We've also hired a few people from other mortgage companies who are able to nearly double their incomes and work less hours," says Richter.
Dan Milstein has been honored by numerous publications including the Scotsman Guide, where he was ranked the No. 1 Loan Officer in the United States in 2009 and 2010. National Mortgage Professional Magazine lists Dan Milstein as one of the 40 Most Influential Finance Professionals in the United States. Mortgage Originator Magazine honored him as a Top Originator. Crain's Detroit Business Magazine selected Milstein as one of Detroit's 'Top 40' Executives under 40.
Milstein is also the bestselling author of The ABC of Sales available on Kindle and Audio Book.
