Health and Wellness Coach Week Supported by Congress

(WASHINGTON, DC) --- Here's a New Year's Resolution that managed to get bipartisan support from member of the Congress today:  Health Wellness Coach Week begins today, January 11 and runs through Friday, January 17, 2016.

H.Res 552 drew together both several Democrats and Republicans who recognized that less than one percent of the almost $4 trillion in US health care expeditures is dedicated to preventive health or health promotion, yet chronic disease is largely driven by behavioral factors.    Health and wellness coaches are trained professionals who empower others to make healthful choices regarding diet, exercise, stress management, and self-care. 

The National Consortium for Credentialing Health and Wellness Coaches (www.ncchwc.org) is actively developing a national certification, and organizing a consensus-built collaboration of educators and leaders in the health and wellness coaching field.  To date, 50 training organizations and academic programs have met a transition-period approval for meeting the national standards developed by NCCHWC.
