An April 2, 2014 article by Patient Advocate Betsy McCaughey, Lethal Lies About Hospital Infections, related the sorry state of hospitals spreading the deadly C Diff digestive infection to patients around the country. Victoria Bowmann, author of You Gotta Have Guts: The Natural Way to Enhance G.I. Health and longtime Holistic Practitioner was not surprised by these revelations. She has been treating this nasty, and all too often deadly infection, through various natural means for decades because antibiotics and others mainstream remedies have proven ineffective.
CDC released information on March 26, McCaughey noted, which reported that "c diff is the No. 1 hospital infection killer," racking up more deaths than "dreaded Staph infections and about as many as AIDS." Bowmann, who has long known that dirty surfaces, even small ones, spread C Diff finds the official line from the CDC and hospital personnel, blaming antibiotics, a despicable tactic designed cover up their own culpability in the crisis. Over 160 years after the role of hygiene was discovered as an agent spreading deadly diseases, American hospitals are contributing to the pain and suffering of millions who come through their doors to get help, not another disorder that is possibly deadly.
"I find this whole revelation totally disturbing, C Diff is easily preventable and I have been able to, through cleansing and reflorastation of the intestine, to help people with C Diff after antibiotics and medications failed them. This is an extremely uncomfortable disorder and can last for months. Certainly prevent is the goal, so if a family or friend is in the hospital, do them a favor and bring a box of bleach wipes to their room and wipe down all the surfaces they might come into contact with," says Victoria Bowmann. "However, if they come home with C Diff, there are natural treatments to consider."
This bacterial infection can survive on surfaces for months and what CDC and hospital authorities are not telling the public is the problem stems from inadequate cleaning in the hospitals as it spreads on every surface it comes into contact: food trays, call buttons, bed rails, wheel chairs, and uniforms. This also extends to nursing and care facilities and doctors' offices. In the gastro-intestinal tract, C Diff causes diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and occasionally death. A patient is 4.5 times more likely to die if they contract C Diff as compared to a patient that doesn't get C Diff.
Antibiotic use kills bacteria, the good ones and the bad ones. Many patients are on heavy doses of antibiotics that make them more vulnerable to this infection. The beneficial bacteria of the intestine in a healthy person help to keep C Diff under control. In addition, most patients fail to wash their hands before eating and transfer the bacteria into their system while eating.
In a pilot project at the Mayo Clinic, the surfaces around the patients' beds were wiped once per day with a bleach wipe. The results: a 79% decrease in C Diff. This germ is encased in a hard shell, so it is harder to kill. Rigorous cleaning with bleach or other effective germ killers is a must. Betsy McCaughey finds the goals of the CDC to reduce C Diff by 33% over five years a totally pathetic goal.
Once again, we are reminded of the importance of cleanliness.
Cleaning is vitally important, and so is refortification of the intestine after the use of antibiotics. While antibiotics may be a lifesaving treatment, the use and overuse of them leaves the immune system weakened. The procedure for replacement of probiotics is simple and inexpensive. Most people swallow billions of probiotics and see little or no results. The reason is simple: the gastric juices are very acidic to promote good digestion; however, they destroy bacteria in the process. While you think you are doing your body some good, most of it is destroyed.
Bowmann has been researching probiotics since 1991 and has fashioned a simple method for getting the right probiotics into the gut. It is called "reflorastation" as presented in the Lancet in 1984. There were only four cases: two patients with chronic constipation, one with constipation as a result of an influenza-like (flu) syndrome, and one patient with irritable bowel syndrome, having diarrhea and abdominal pain. Their results showed a bowel function returning to normal, and remaining normal in all four cases. In fact, there was no need for further treatment.
From this research study, she began testing a variety of probiotics from as many sources as possible and was able to determine which probiotics were most potent, as well as the quantity and proportions needed to establish the gut. The results are a rapid rebuilding of the intestines to jumpstart the immune system. Retention of this rectal suppository kit will colonize the large intestine in one hour and stabilize the GI tract in three days. One of my clients, Allan, sent an email in May 2014. He said, "This kit is great and powerful!"

About Victoria Bowmann, Ph.D.
Victoria Bowmann is a health care professional, author and speaker with more than 30 years of expertise in cleansing, detoxification, digestive and gastro-intestinal (GI) health.
Growing up with allergies and a predisposition to arthritis and other genetic ailments, Bowmann began in earnest at a young age to research alternative treatments to invasive conventional approaches.
Bowmann honed in on the importance of cleansing and detoxification as a major factor in optimizing health. She created a widely used manual on reflorastation, a technique used to reintroduce healthy bacteria into the bowel following a colon hydrotherapy.
Over the past three decades, Bowmann has successfully utilized her method of reflorastation and propriety blend of probiotics to treat and deliver the optimal results to her patients. Her technique is now used by natural therapists worldwide.
In fact, as a pioneer in probiotic research, Bowmann has traveled internationally to educate other colon therapists and physicians and has personally trained technicians at the Paracelsus Clinic in Lustmuhle, Switzerland.
She has been interviewed on television and radio and has delivered numerous presentations across the nation and abroad. She is also a regular contributor to several national publications, such as:
• Explore! for the professional
• Public Health Alert
• Naturopathic Doctor's News and Review
In her book released this June (2009), You Gotta Have GUTS: The Natural Way to Enhance GI Health, Bowmann shares her extensive knowledge in layman's terms and touts the relationship between GI health and overall well-being. For three decades she has operated a private holistic therapy practice in Phoenix, Ariz., where she creates treatment plans designed to detoxify the body and restore a greater degree of vitality to the individual.
