Attract the Right Job or Clientele:

How Do You Receive Inspiration for Business Growth?

In business life, it’s easy to think you’re doing it wrong if you don’t invent everything from scratch and only remain inspired by your example. But, of course, such an idea would be silly in many other fields. Except for perhaps the first cave painters, no one has ever painted on a canvas without some idea of the artists they like, even if they didn’t know their names. Inspiration is essential for creative fuel if you’re to do anything. Even the best among us have artists or figures they appreciate. The same should be valid for business, even in a highly competitive world.’

So, where do you take business inspiration from? It’s okay if it’s not just one person for all things. You may admire it. It’s OK if it’s not just one person for all things. You may admire the tenacity of an investor or appreciate the career trajectory of someone who builds something from nothing. However, it is essential to understand how to emulate their best qualities and learn something from them. Or situations and corporate decisions excite you.

Our collaborative post asks, ‘How do you receive inspiration for business growth?’ and shares ways to seek it out and incorporate it into your work.

Receive Inspiration for Business Growth

Autobiographies

Business leaders often share their journeys through autobiographies, which can give us insights we won’t find in press releases or interviews. These books are good because they can show the messier side of success, such as the failures, doubts, and unexpected turns that shaped their path. If they don’t, then you shouldn’t trust the account.

Reading about how someone from a humble background started with almost nothing and a good idea or how Richard Branson overcame dyslexia to build Virgin gives you a fuller picture of their considerable success now. It can help you see that you can still work through tough times; not everyone starts from the same position.

Their honesty about timing and luck makes these accounts inspirational and worthwhile. Most successful entrepreneurs will accept moments when things could have gone differently. This perspective helps you approach your challenges more patiently and resilient, knowing that not every issue you have is an indictment of who you are.

Unique Business Stories & Case Studies

Case studies are always helpful and can help you see how to try something new even if it seems completely novel—usually, it isn’t. Harvard Business Review and similar publications are good reads because they can give detailed examinations of successes and failures.

These stories help you see specific patterns across industries and periods that might apply to your situation. You can also see how certain professionals, such as Andrew Feldstein Montaigne, have refocused their approach to ensure future success.

Creatives In Your Field

Sometimes, the best inspiration comes not from direct competitors but from creative thinkers working adjacent to your industry. That might include designers, artists, writers, and innovators approaching similar problems from different angles. For example, has any software developer or UX designer discounted Apple’s genius and how it branded itself opposite most tech devices to become one of the most successful companies on the planet?

With that mindset, a restaurant owner might find inspiration in how an architect uses space and flow to consider how they deliver the structure of their own experience, or a tech company could learn from theatrical productions about creating memorable user experiences from the start to the end.

We often ignore how cross-disciplinary connections usually lead to the most distinctive business approaches, but not you, as you’ll be looking for that kind of inspiration worth knowing.

Public & Historical Figures

Of course, business wisdom isn’t limited to entrepreneurs. Business isn’t disparate from life; it works with people’s needs and requirements. It’s been a part of the human story almost forever.

In general, history has lessons to draw for many of the experiences you’ll want to work through. For example, historical figures have been through leadership challenges that remain relevant today. Winston Churchill managing a nation during wartime, Marie Curie pursuing scientific discovery despite institutional barriers, or Nelson Mandela building reconciliation after apartheid all demonstrate leadership principles applicable to business; even if they’re not a 1:1 match in what you’re going through now, they can inspire us from their example.

Of course, they don’t necessarily have to be politicians or leaders, as public figures outside business sometimes demonstrate impressive brand building, too, such as musicians who keep their relevance across decades. Understanding how they overcame and kept focused on their forward path can be a healthy qualifier for confidently looking to the future.

Ethics & Social Changes

Some of the most inspiring business developments involve companies focusing on social needs while remaining profitable or breaking even as a non-profit. For example, companies that focus on sustainability or acquire the best talent thanks to fair hiring practices or those that were the first to onboard in the Fairtrade program to give foreign farmers more than a fair wage are still relevant.

It shows how much work there is left to do. It can inspire you to become that new voice for what no one in your industry seems to care about. It can inspire you to become that new voice for what no one in your industry seems to care about. It also makes you realize that fighting for the good of your industry is worth it, and the influence you have in specific spaces that matter most.

Conclusion: How Do You Receive Inspiration for Business Growth?

Business inspiration shouldn’t feel too distinct from the inspiration you hold near and dear in life. After all, minor things can inspire our path, and while we may commercialize the specific value we bring to the world, that doesn’t make the value any less separate from its potential.

Understanding this can seem challenging in our highly marketing-based culture, but reading accounts from history, case studies, and those who connect with your values will help you see your place in any industry in a more focused and attentive light. May the above insights be the fuel to incorporate inspiration into your mind, body, and spirit to enjoy growth on multiple levels!
