(January 25, 2009) Human Factor International (HFI) Managing Director and Executive Coach Jeffrey Jones will assist as a coach in Pluralistic Networks,' 3-Day workshop, "A New Approach to Learning Critical 21st Century Skills." Additionally, Phil Guo, HFI Director of Business Development Asia Pacific, will attend the program. The workshop will be held in San Francisco on January 27-29, 2010. Jeffrey has been participating in programs with Fernando Flores for the last year. His interest in Senator Flores' approach to ontological coaching began at Columbia University around the use of virtual realities in the Executive Coaching field.
According to the Pluralistic Networks website: "Our Introductory Session is an intensive 3-day conference currently led by our founder, Dr. Fernando Flores, which explores what it means to live and work in pluralistic networks, and the need to shift our education away from the 'acquisition of knowledge' and 'application of concepts,' towards a focus on embodied learning and the cultivation of new abilities that are critical for our world today. Participants explore:?1) the skills and sensibilities people must cultivate to listen to and act effectively with others in a constantly changing world. 2) the use of new networked technologies for learning new skills and cultivating new ways of being. 3) their own abilities to work effectively with others, including the behaviors that may get in the way. Throughout the course, participants engage in hands-on group exercises using a virtual reality game environment, and emerge not only with a new awareness of themselves and the skills they need to cultivate, but also with a sense of ambition as they begin to articulate a personal roadmap for learning to navigate in the world of pluralistic networks."
The mission statement on the website reads: "The internet confronts us with a plurality of values at a level of immediacy unimaginable to previous generations. At work, at play and at home, we are unavoidably connected to people from all over the world. In organizations large and small, project teams are increasingly virtual, consisting of people based in dispersed geographical locations, from different cultural backgrounds and value systems. To flourish, even to participate in a meaningful way, in our world today requires the cultivation of a new kind of pluralism. This pluralism is a mindset that goes far beyond tolerating diversity, to actively engaging with others to articulate shared goals and commit to working together to achieve these. This new kind of pluralism requires a new skill set, which we call the Orchestration of Commitments in Pluralistic Networks."
