Invariant represents Arlington, VA-based Venture Global, which received federal approval on July 2 for its controversial $21B liquified natural gas export facility located in Louisiana's wetlands.

The facility will export natural gas to markets in Europe, Asia and the US.

Following Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval, Venture Global said the project is critical to global energy security, supports the energy transition, and provides jobs across the Pelican State and the US.

Environmentalists have long opposed the plant, which also includes an 85-mile pipeline, because it is situated in a region that gets battered by hurricanes and rising sea levels.

Venture Global expects a 26-foot high sea wall around the 632-acre site will protect the facility.

Outgoing FERC commissioner Allison Clements, who voted against Venture Global’s facility, said it “will have enormous emissions of greenhouse gases, equivalent to putting more than 1.8 million new gas-fueled cars on the road each year.”
