Rose Lee Archer, award winning Producer & Host of the Rose Lee Archer Show and President and Founder of the Archer Disability Foundation has been elected president of the statewide Florida Independent Living Council. FILC members and staff promote independent living opportunities for persons with disabilities. Rose Lee was a teen mom of a son with multiple disabilities. As a student intern in TV news she placed her son in a state institution and soon fought to get him discharged using her research talents to identify resources that addressed her son's academic and medical issues.
In 1998, Rose Lee introduced the nonprofits flagship program DADEO; Disability Awareness Disability Employment Opportunities, a Disability Mentoring project, which has grown to be the largest and longest running program in the nation.
In 2010, the Archer Disability Foundation, (ADF) partnered with Palm Beach State College to introduce Employment and Academic a Resources for Students and Job seekers with disabilities. Parents and family members of a loved one with disabilities are offered guidance to identify and connect with specific local, state and national resources. The Archer Disability Foundation staff is educated parents with first hand experience as school district liaisons and national disability advocates. ADF is a leader in mentoring self advocates and parents as they take the important steps in their journey to achieve a greater quality of life for the entire family.
