Smithbucklin named Karen Saverino as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). She will oversee corporate marketing, business development, and internal communication teams, driving the formulation and execution of brand and marketing strategies to foster growth. Additionally, she joins Smithbucklin’s corporate management team and is based in Washington, D.C.
According to a release, she brings more than 25 years of expertise in marketing and communications to the company. “Karen’s experience aligns perfectly with Smithbucklin, and we are thrilled to welcome her as our CMO,” said Smithbucklin President & CEO Matt Sanderson. “Her professional services background coupled with her work in the non-profit and industry association sectors will uniquely contribute to strengthening our growing business.”In her most recent role, Saverino was global head of marketing and communications for Accenture’s Talent & Organization practice. She was responsible for marketing and communications for the 27,000-person practice and to clients in 19 industries and 120 countries.
Prior to her role at Accenture, Saverino served as vice president, then executive vice president, at Metropolitan Group, a full-service strategic and creative services agency for social purpose organizations. She also founded Eightfold Strategy, a marketing communications agency focused on non-profit, association, and government clients. In addition, she served as senior public relations director at Carton Donofrio Partners, an advertising and creative services agency in Baltimore.
Saverino previously served on several nonprofit boards, including The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, School-Based Health Alliance, and Washington Women in Public Relations. She is a cum laude graduate of Notre Dame of Maryland University and received her certificate in Health & Wellness Coaching and Behavioral Sciences from Georgetown University.
