April marks National County Government Month (NCGM), a time to recognize the essential services counties provide to communities nationwide. As a keynote speaker and comedian, Jan McInnis has spent years bringing humor and insight to government professionals, including county leaders, showing them how laughter can be a powerful tool for communication, leadership, and managing change.

McInnis has spoken at numerous government conferences, including county management associations, clerks' conferences, and public works events, sharing strategies on how humor can improve workplace interactions, ease transitions, and build stronger teams.

Encouraging Public Engagement with #CountiesWork

As part of NCGM, counties nationwide are promoting civic engagement through #CountiesWork, a free online game developed by NACo and iCivics that educates students about the role of county government. This year, NACo aims to reach 150,000 plays of the game. McInnis encourages educators, government employees, and residents to check out the game and get involved at www.naco.org/iCivics.

As NCGM continues throughout April, McInnis looks forward to working with more county professionals and organizations to add humor to their communications and events.
