"Berry Special Workout" October 27, 2011

Summerlin resident Andrea Behrens raised more than $1,000 for the Berry family of Houston by planning a charity workout in conjunction with Las Vegas Bootcamp on October 27, 2011.

When Behrens heard about the Berry children losing their parents after a car accident this summer, she wanted to help raise money for their care, so she organized the "Berry Special Workout" class and invited her friends and contacts to attend.

"I'm touched by the response and I'm so happy to be helping the family," Behrens said. "The success of this event is proof to me that even a small group of people can make an impact. I'm grateful to everyone who attended and many others who donated. Hosting this event was not just about raising money, it was also about showing support and love from Las Vegas."

Las Vegas Bootcamp provided an overview of two of the main workouts, circuits and hills. "The class was a great opportunity for current bootcampers and people outside of Bootcamp to get a good workout and get to know each other while they were doing something to help a good cause," said Las Vegas Bootcamp Trainer, Kerry Geyser. "The Bootcamp was an interactive fund raiser. Those who wanted to help the Berry family changed their morning routine by doing something entirely new and different, knowing their money was going to a great cause."

Mindy Martinez, who resides on the Southwest side of town, said she learned of the class through Behrens and loved the concept of working out while giving back. "Andrea is a friend who inspired me to attend and support her event. This was a really sad story so I was happy I could participate and help out. The workout was intense. I enjoyed the instructor and various activities involved. I would never push myself as hard as I did in this class."

Geyser said Las Vegas Bootcamp regularly supports community events and charities. On November 12 and 13, several Bootcampers, along with Geyser, plan to participate in the Bike MS: Vegas Challenge, with team Juicebar.
