Plymouth Meeting, Pa., USA (25 January 2010) - AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, announces today that it is among the companies chosen by the United States General Services Administration for blanket purchase agreements (BPAs) totaling US$500 million in services on a broad spectrum of energy conservation projects. The projects are to be funded, at least in part, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
The BPAs will offer federal agencies comprehensive professional service support for projects that comply with energy efficiency and green building requirements or conserve water. Task orders may involve a wide range of support, from energy audits and the provision of innovative sustainable energy services to the retention of water and the improvement of water quality and water flow. The projects are envisioned to result in job creation, construction of new facilities, and transformation of federal buildings into high-performance green buildings, according to the GSA.
The BPA awarded to AMEC's Earth & Environmental division covers all 11 GSA regions throughout the United States and its territories. The one-year BPA contains options for up to four additional years, based on performance.
AMEC is a recognized leader in the sustainable energy arena with experience across the full range of services, from planning and permitting to engineering design and construction. For nearly two decades, AMEC has performed energy audits, energy design reviews and infrastructure assessments. Over the past three years, nearly 10 million square feet of facilities were investigated at 19 installations across the nation, resulting in the identification of more than $12 million per year in potential energy savings.
