Miami Dade College, which enrolls over 120,000 students across eight campuses in Florida’s Miami-Dade County, is seeking a firm to help it promote the 100th anniversary of its Freedom Tower.

Originally completed in 1925 as the headquarters and printing facility for the Miami News, the building was used in the 1960s to process and document refugees from the Cuban Revolution and to provide medical and dental services for them. The Freedom Tower Campaign and Celebration is focused on both celebrating its centennial and supporting its renovation.

The selected firm will be tasked with increasing public awareness of the project, as well as boosting visitor numbers and enhancing donor contributions.

The scope of work will include public relations (media relations, press materials and crisis management); communications (providing a strategic communications plan, content creation and social media support); and event planning.

The contract is expected to run from October 2024 through June 30, 2025, though the college may extend the service dates as required to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The current RFP process is intended to generate a pool of prequalified firms for the work and does not guarantee any specific award of services.

Proposals must be downloaded to the Miami Dade College BidNet site by September 20 at 3 p.m.

Questions should be directed to purchasing manager Roman Martinez at [email protected] by September 12.
