"The KEEPER of the KEYS" starring
Jack Canfield will premiere Dec. 8 at 7PM with a red carpet event at the all-new Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas. This is the first movie in the self-help genre to take an innovative, funny approach to the field of personal development. The film stars some of today's most popular personal development gurus and blends an entertaining fictional story line with unique expert segments.
The fictional story line centers on Michael, an everyman finds himself having to cope with a rough couple of months. Michael loses his job, finds his home in foreclosure, and before long, his fiancée tires of his negative rants and breaks off their engagement.
Canfield, in a role reminiscent of "A Christmas Carol's" Jacob Marley, appears before Michael and says he is going to send some friends who are experts to help him understand the keys and how to use them. Michael soon finds himself in a waking dream, trapped in a mysterious mansion with a supernatural spiritual guide, Elizabeth. She introduces him to the experts who will help him to regain control of his life.
The movie was written and produced by award-winning author Robin Jay. Jay began her career in the field of personal development with her first book, "The Art of the Business Lunch" (Career Press), currently in 12 languages. Later, as president of the Las Vegas Convention Speakers Bureau and its parent company, TwoBirds, Inc., Jay published the best-selling anthology series, "The Power of the Platform," which features motivational stories from more than 60 professional speakers, including Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Les Brown, Keith Ferrazzi, Marci Shimoff, and other leaders in the industry.
"Ever since the success of 'The Secret,' self-help films have followed pretty much the same formula of delivering endless sound bites from dozens of 'talking heads,'" Jay said. "I wanted to raise the bar on the entire genre by doing something entertaining and compelling. I think we have to engage the viewers before we can empower them. For that, a movie needs to be funny. This movie is designed to take the 'hell' out of self-help by appealing to ALL viewers - whether or not they are fans of personal development. I hired Scott Cervine to direct AND to play the role of Michael. I'd seen him in films before and knew he would bring Michael to life and make him a funny, yet sympathetic character."
"The Keeper of the Keys" star
Jack Canfield is well known as the co-creator of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" franchise, and is the author of "The Success Principles" and "The Golden Motorcycle Gang." The movie also stars
Dr. John Gray, Ph.D., author of "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" and
Marci Shimoff, author of "Happy for No Reason," "Love for No Reason" and "Chicken Soup for the Woman's Soul." Along with these icons of self-help, all three of whom were featured teachers in the blockbuster self-help movie "The Secret," the movie presents 15 additional experts from as far away as the UK. These experts are personal development speakers, coaches, and authors, each of whom share deeply personal stories of challenges, success and overcoming adversity. Viewers will not hear the typical rhetoric or motivational content they may be used to hearing from motivational speakers. The stories the experts share in this movie are fresh - and most have never been heard before by ANY audience.
"The KEEPER of the KEYS" movie has already made an impression on
Stephen Simon, cofounder of
Spiritual Cinema Circle. After screening a rough cut, Simon, an acclaimed film producer and director, said, "This movie is so current ...so relevant ... and nothing like it has ever been done before. It represents an extraordinary undertaking that works on every level." Of the Jay-Cervine collaboration, he said,
"They have given a great gift to the world with this film." The VIP Red Carpet Premiere promises to be just as much fun as the movie itself. Following the screening, an after party will be held in the classic Las Vegas showroom and will feature an appearance from Steve Connolly as Elvis, live music and dancing, special "Key-tini" cocktails, and Gigi's Cupcakes.
Tickets for the premiere are $100 each, or two for $150, and include a walk down the red carpet, opportunities to meet the stars and experts, as well as admission to the after party. Limited VIP tickets priced at $200 are also available and include VIP seating in "King's Row" during the screening and after party. Seating is limited and the showroom is filing up quickly as news of this fun, engaging film has started to spread. Jay is encouraging fans to act fast and get their tickets now if they want to experience this groundbreaking new film.
Earlier in the day, Jay is hosting an intimate luncheon with Canfield and Shimoff at
The Palm Restaurant in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The luncheon is $200 per person, with a portion of the proceeds from both events going to Volunteers in Medicine, Southern Nevada.
