New Resource Guide for Navigating Complementary and Integrative Heatlh
Health Coaches Can Now Help Patients Choose Among Helpful Modalities
(San Francisco---) People with chronic health conditions have a tough time figuring out if complementary or alternative or integrative medicine is right for them. They wonder if they should see an herbalist or get acpuncture while coping with cancer treatements. They question if o myofascial release will help their chronic back pain. They also wonder if homeopathy will interfere with what their primary care doctors recommended. And they're unsure if any of it is safe and effective.
Not only the patients, but health coaches, too, need reliable information as they help their clients navigate the myriad of options.
Now there is a new resource guide for health coaches -- the first-ever to provide valid information about the supportive therapies and systems from the fields of integrative, alternative and complementary health. Written by faculty, graduate students and advisors of the California Institute of Integral Studies master's program in Integrative Health Studies, Integrative Health Coaching: A Resource Guide for Navigating Complementary and Integrative Health provides coaches and other professionals with valuable tips and factual data about CAM modalities, research and benefits, history, philosophy, coaching tips, contraindications, typical treatments, costs, practitioner credentials and licensing requirements. Now health and wellness coaches can have informed conversations with clients, caregivers and their healthcare providers about the vast array of health-enhancing and supportive modalities available.
Changing health habits is difficult for all of us, but for those coping with chronic illness, overhauling a lifestyle can be particularly demanding. Tapping into the safe, effective, and simple techniques described within these pages, such as, breathwork, acupunture, homeopathy, Reiki, guided imagery and mindfulness, can support wellbeing, optimal health, and the journey to a new normal.
This book is not prescriptive, but an adjunctive resource with accessible information for health coaches as they work with teams of licensed health care providers. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Available at amazon.
