FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OLYMPIA, Wa June 11, 2009 - The Survival Center, America's Premier Preparedness Center, announces the release of its new Swine Flu preparedness page.

Fears that the rapid spread of the Swine Flu (H1N1) virus may mutate and become even more deadly in the fall, have created an unprecedented run on survival products.

That's the word from "America's Premier Preparedness Center" - The Survival Center in McKenna Washington - where the phones have been ringing off the hook since the Swine Flu scare began.

"Nowadays, being Prepared and Knowing how to do things for yourself takes on a whole new meaning. ?Being Prepared to be on Your Own for Extended Periods of Time? is The Survival Center?s theme" said "Uncle Richard" Richard Mankamyer, Author, Preparedness Trainer, Consultant and General Manager of The Survival Center.

Our new Swine Flu Preparedness page http://www.survivalcenter.com/birdflumask.html is all about education and products that can help one weather the flu storm"We were fortunate that we had enough masks in stock to meet the first wave of demand" says ?Uncle Richard?, adding "we've never seen anything like it in 35+ years in the business"

Using its Free International Newsletter which has thousands of subscribers around the globe, The Survival Center was able to alert its customers to the fact that officials were concerned about a Swine Flu pandemic before WHO and the Centers for Disease Control raised that alarm.

"Surprisingly, it wasn't just masks that people wanted," says ?Uncle Richard..."we recently published a Home Study Course on How-To be prepared to be on your own for extended periods of time. Our "Basic Preparedness" book, coupled with a six-hour presentation on DVD, and that home study course is really getting people's attention. We're shipping it all over the world"

Because of the expected huge up-tick in business, The Survival Center was quick to contact its own suppliers - only to discover that some companies did not expect to be able to keep up with demand - partly because many state and federal health agencies were also in top gear as they scrambled to prepare for a possible pandemic.

"There's no telling whether this will in fact become a deadly pandemic," says Uncle Richard, "but it's clearly best to prepare for that possibility rather than wait till the traditional flu season in the fall by which time this virus could have mutated into something really really serious"

Meantime, The Survival Center is advocating that people "be prepared for possible quarantine" because "that's a serious possibility if the World Health Organization would suggest this as it takes the Alert Level up to 6.

"Quite frankly, whether we like it or not, we should see the current spread of the disease - even though it's mild in most cases - as a serious warning that we just might have to be on our own for extended periods of time. "That's what people should prepare for while there's still time. "The health agencies are doing everything they can to prepare. But we should be doing the same for ourselves...and our families"
