The 8th and
my final season of Project Runway ended on a low note.
Very low. It ended with homage to mediocrity. Project Runway should be re-named Project Boring. Judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia don't understand that girls everywhere just want to have fun. They think mid-America will only wear boring clothes. They think
fun clothes are only allowed to be worn in New York and LA.
The final episode of Season 8 showcased the collection of Andy South, Gretchen Jones, and Mondo Guerra. Mondo won more weekly competitions than any other contestant AND was a fan favorite. Mondo
knows fun. Jones does not.
In 1983 Cyndi Lauper sang Girls Just Want to Have Fun and it became a feminist anthem. Twenty seven years later it appears Project Runway judges and host believe that girls off the runway don't want to have fun. That's what their choice of Gretchen Jones as the winner revealed.
They could have selected a fun selection but they did not.
They could have selected a sophisticated selection, but they did not,
They could have selected a collection that was not boring, they did not.
It is called Project Runway, not Project Boring, I thought they were supposed to be clothes that were for the runway, not Saturday morning errands. I can see boring any day. I want to see and see rewarded RUNWAY clothes in Project Runway.
That's why it will be my last Project Runway. Next season I will just go to Wal-Mart.
