Port Washington, WI, Oct. 28, 2012 -- Public relations practitioners and self-promoters who want an inside edge on how to generate online and offline publicity can learn tricks of the trade from publicity expert Joan Stewart of
http://www.PublicityHound.com when she speaks to the Central Iowa Public Relations Society of America Nov. 15 in Des Moines.
Stewart, also known as The Publicity Hound, will be guest speaker during two presentations: "Savvy Media Relations: How to Get Thousands of Dollars in Free Publicity in Traditional and Online Media" from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and "7 LinkedIn Power Tools to Connect with Journalists" during a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both presentations will be at the Holiday Inn downtown, Mercy Clinic, 1050 6th Ave.
"Longtime veterans of the PR industry as well as anyone who is new self-promotion will learn dozens of tips and strategies on how to get maximum exposure in traditional and online media," Stewart said. "It's all about building relationships with journalists and bloggers, and thinking of ways you can help them do their jobs instead of ways they can help you."
Her session on how to use LinkedIn, she said, will emphasize the power of the world's Number One business networking site, particularly for building relationships. "The tools I'll demonstrate work as well with all types of business contacts as they do with journalists," she said.
Cost for the morning session is $30 and open to the public. The luncheon is $20 for members, $30 for non-members and $15 for students. Register online at
http://www.PRSACIowa.org by Friday, Nov. 9. Registration is $5 more after Nov. 9.
