QUEEN MAE, THE OLDEST PERSON TO EVER BE A WINTER GOGO DANCER ON THE REGIS AND KELLY SHOW RECEIVES PROCLAMATION FROM ALBANY, NY ON HER 80TH BIRTHDAY

Born Annie Padmore on July 14, 1932, known as Mae Padmore.

Padmore but affectionately called Queen Mae by her following, received a Proclamation for her

services to the community from NYS  Assemblyman Keith I. T. Wright, that was presented by Special

Assistant Maurice Cummings, at the Art Gallery in the Harlem State Building located on West 125th

Street in Harlem, NY on Wednesday, 25th July 2012.

Mae Padmore was the first woman to be a Desk Test Technician in New York State while

employed  with the NY Telephone Company now Verizon.  She retired in 1992 after 40 years of

service.

Mae became bored and started performing with her friend Ludie Jones tapping troop that

Appeared at various locations throughout Manhattan, including  a network cooking show for

Healthy seniors and the Jacob Javits Convention Center.

Approached by Rita Carrington, the director of the Kennedy Center in Harlem to teach a class at

the Center once a week on Friday for seniors, ages 54 to 99.  She is still teaching after 15 years.

It is the largest dance class at the Center and has new members of all ages from the Tri-State

Area.

She danced  on Regis and he was so impressed that he announced her age of 78.  Gentleman

Viewers were impressed also and she received invitations to go dancing by out of towners
